The winter wheels and tires are on...

The setup

Kinja'd!!!

A clear illustration of why the Hyundai factory wheels become unbalanced in the winter. The spoke design is just almost impossible to clean behind.

That looks good! Got a bit of that rally stance . Can I get it with a manual and AWD?!?

How do you like that thing? I have been enamored with their looks, and that color is stunning!

It is amazing how well Hyundai executed the design style. Ralph Gilles was adamant that the Jeep Cherokee release was going to be the future of design and people just needed to give it a chance, but they buggered up the car’s design so badly , ruining a solid nameplate, that even they abandoned the notion of the split lights rolling over the hood transition. Here it looks lovely and natural.

No manual in North America , and AWD is auto only, no matter what the market :/

The 7-speed DCT is not bad though , and it’s a good handler too.

It’s a great little CUV, I really like it. I wish it could be had with a manual and AWD, but such are the times we live in... The suspension tuning is genuinely excellent, the Mazda CX3 “feels” sportier , but the ultimate limits of the Kona are actually quite a bit higher. T he grip is really excellent, a nd the ride is good too. The AWD system is not shy about shuffling power to the rear (though it can never be greater than 50%), and does so not only under slip conditions, but also when cornering to neutralize handling. Combined with the brake-torque-vectoring it can even get sideways and keep the ass hung on dirt/slippery roads . The Limited trim is definitely the way to go, the 1.6t and the 7-speed DCT are just a much more entertaining driveline (with almost no economy hit, which BTW, we routinely beat the EPA estimates ) vs. the 2.0 and traditional 6-speed auto, though you can get AWD on any trim level, which makes it potentially the second-cheapest AWD car you can buy in the USA. I t is also available in several great colors, though dealers hips always seem to keep black, white and grey on the lot :P

On top of all that, the interior is nicely finished, comfortable, and reasonably spacious (it is still a small car...) and useable. Also, the Hyundai infotainment system is WAY better than everything else in a cheap car. You can also get all the fancy driver aids, including auto/LED lights, lane keep assist (that works really well ! ), bli nd spot and cross traffic warnings, automatic emergency stopping, but irritatingly no adaptive cruise control, which is is weird as it has all the required h ardware...

in any case, yeah, I like it. It manages to be a relatively entertaining little vehicle that’ s also very useful and efficient.

If you’re looking for a S mall AWD T hing that’ s not too expensive, it’s definitely worth a test drive. I rec omm end the Limited package.
